Hello,
and welcome to our site. We are Pines West Camera Club, currently
meeting twice a month
at
the Southwest Focal Point Senior Center in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
We are entering our 14th year
of
existence and have grown to be one of the largest clubs devoted to
photography in southern Florida.
We
come together on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month (one
meeting in December), and
offer
a wide-ranging series of topics, from field trips and competitions to
guest lecturers and hands-on
demonstrations.
PWCC has an enthusiastic membership, ranging in skill level from
beginners to veteran professionals, and maintains a friendly and
relaxed atmosphere, where our goal is to learn from one another and
offer help and knowledge to one another. PWCC is a member of the
Photographic Society of America and many
of our members belong to other clubs in the area as well as to the
Everglades Chapter of PSA.
Currently,
several of our members are displaying their images in an exhibit
titled “Surreal” at the Glass
Gallery
on the ground floor of the Pembroke Pines Municipal Building. The
exhibit, which features works of art that
really push the envelope of photographic imagery, runs through July
15th. Then for the month of July our club
will be featured in an exhibit at Ann Kolb Nature Center on Sheridan
Street in Hollywood.
We
have had several successful field trips this year: Wakodahatchee
Wetlands in Delray Beach, the
Renaissance
Festival at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach, a trip across the
bay to capture the sights of
South
Beach, and most recently, a visit to Fairchild Tropical Gardens in
South Miami.
Also,
please check out our new Meetup site, begun in January, and which is
now approaching a membership of 100. Our Meetup activities have
included a visit from renowned bird photographer Arthur Morris
at
our club meeting site at the Senior Center, the visit to the
Ren-Fest, and most recently the get-together on
South
Beach.
So,
if you are already involved with “chasing the light” or think you
might really like getting into photography – as a hobby, or even
professionally – stop by and check us out. We always welcome guests
to our meetings and enjoy answering any and all questions. Hope to
see you soon!
Sincerely,
Jerry
